With blue skies and warm breezes, many people visited the festival for Saturday morning’s SikaFlex Challenge boat building competition and Sunday afternoon’s Sikaflex Challenge in-water time trials. On Saturday, the team of Patrick Smola and Carley Carniglia with their vessel, Door County Fish Boil completed the fastest build at one hour and thirty minutes. Completing their vessel next were the Zachariasen brothers, George and Neil, with the SOS. Each of the 8 competing teams were given a limited amount of lumber, zip ties and Sikaflex sealant to build a boat within four hours.

On Sunday afternoon Todd Rexine and Jeremy Gauger in I Am Batman, the boat that was voted the People’s Choice Winner for favorite theme, sped through the course in a blazing 1 minute and 31 seconds! Bruce Loberg and Doug McGee finished second in 1 minute and 55 seconds, paddling in unison in their KISS craft. The Zachariasen brothers came in third by just a hair. After all of the points were carefully tallied, the overall winners were Todd Rexine and Jeremy Gauger with 47 points; second place went to the Zachariasen brothers with 45 points, and third place to Bruce Loberg and Doug McGee trailing behind with a not-too-shabby 43 points.
