WANTED: ARTISTS to
Paint the Bay

during the 20th Annual Door County Maritime Museum Classic & Wooden Boat Festival
Saturday, August 7, 2010

Paint a nautical or maritime scene of the Bay of Sturgeon Bay (including Ship Canal),
from Sherwood Point to the Coast Guard Station on Lake Michigan!

Schedule:

    Saturday, August 7
  • 8:00 - 9:00AM: Participant check-in / Medium validation / Day-of Registration
  • 9:00AM - 12:00 Noon: Painting on-location
  • 1:00PM: Artwork return deadline
  • 2:00PM: Silent Auction opens
  • 2:00 - 4:00PM: People's Choice judging; winning entry featured on 2011 Festival poster
    Sunday, August 8
  • 10:00AM - 2:00PM: Silent Auction bidding continues
  • 2:00PM: Silent Auction closes
  • 3:30PM: Awards Ceremony including announcement of People's Choice Winner

Registration Fee: $10.00 per entry, includes 1 adult Festival admission per entrant

....• Day-of registration from 8:00-9:00AM on August 7 at the Festival
....• Separate check-in areas for pre-registered participants and those needing to register day-of (Advance Registration Encouraged!!)

Boundaries:
....• Must be Bay of Sturgeon Bay area
....• Western limit: Sherwood Point
....• Eastern limit: USCG Sturgeon Bay Canal Station
....• Artists may choose The Maritime Museum grounds for guest observation
....Do Not Trespass; please obtain Property Owners' permission before traversing Private Property

Entry requirements:
....• Artwork must be submitted on pre-validated medium, stamped upon check-in at designated "Paint the Bay" tent between 8:00-9:00AM
....• Must be completed and returned to the designated "Paint the Bay" tent not later than 1:00PM on 8/7
....• All mediums welcomed, except photography entries not permitted
....• Work does not need to be framed or matted, but will be displayed inside the Museum (upper level) on artist’s own easel or at the "Paint the Bay" Committee’s discretion

Silent Auction:
....• Opening bid will be ½ of the artist’s appraisal
....• Bid increments will be at the discretion of the Paint the Bay Committee
....• Proceeds distribution: 30% to DC Maritime Museum and 70% to the artist
....• If there is no bid, artwork will be returned to artists
....• Bidding open Saturday 8/7 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 8/8 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

People's Choice Award:
....• Voting open from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7
....• Winning entry will be featured on the 2011 Festival poster (artist must grant use rights to The Door County Maritime Museum)
