Merry-Time Festival of Trees
November 11 – December 12

Joyously celebrate the holidays by enjoying dozens of beautifully decorated Christmas trees scattered throughout the museum’s galleries. Lovingly decorated by local businesses, organizations and residents each of these extraordinary trees is adorned with beautiful ornaments and special surprises. Best of all, every tree will go home with a lucky winner in our Merry-Time Festival of Trees raffle! Enjoy a live auction, a silent auction, the tree raffle drawing and a score of heavy hors d’oeuvres at the event’s final gala, “Jingle, Jingle, Mix & Mingle”. Create a new holiday tradition for your family and friends by joining in this wonderful festive event. Museum admission includes a daily festival rate of $10 for adults (includes a free $5 Merry-Time Festival of Trees raffle ticket). Children are free with a nominal Cana Island restoration donation.

 

November 11, Saturday

“Stress-Free” Holiday Cooking Demo with Thyme Catering – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm

No need to spend the whole day in the kitchen to enjoy the holidays. Thyme Catering will walk you through how to make your pantry and freezer your friend this holiday season. Start with an hors d’oeuvre and if need be, make it a meal. Arm yourself with the tools to prepare for unexpected guests. Less stress holidays for all. Registration is $30 and includes cooking demo, samples of prepared foods, recipes and free admission to the museum.

Make Your Own Precious Holiday Ornament–Quilt the Old-Fashioned Way-2 pm to 4 pm

New this year we have three different Door Peninsula quilting groups to help you make a quilted ornament. Make a small quilted tree ornament for your tree or a present for someone else! You can bring your own material (at least 6” squares) or pick material from what the quilters bring. Think how happy your friends and relatives will be to receive a hand-made ornament from you. Or, you can start a new tradition with your family and make your own ornaments. Registration is $20 and includes everything you need to make an ornament.

 

Nov 25, Saturday

Kid’s Merry-Time Fun Day

10:30 am to 3:30 pm

Pilot the 400-foot freighter, the Elba, through the bridges of Sturgeon Bay, enjoy our featured Sea Dogs exhibit and participate in crafts, games, and much more. New this year is a children’s raffle. Remember how much fun you have putting raffle tickets in containers for the Merry-Time Trees? Children will be able to put a free raffle ticket in a bucket to win a prize from Child’s Play! Adult admission is $10 (includes a $5 Merry-Time Festival of Trees raffle ticket). Children are free with an adult and a nominal donation to the Cana Island Restoration Fund. Children then receive one free Merry-Time Festival children’s raffle ticket.

 

Santa on the Tug John PurvesDec 2, Saturday

Santa on the Tug, “John Purves” – 10 am to 1 pm

Join Santa onboard the historic tugboat to share your Christmas wishes! Due to the size of the tug, only two adults can accompany each child. Adult museum admission includes Santa visit. Children will also be able to put a free raffle ticket in a bucket to win a prize from a local children’s store! 

 

 

DOOR CANcer Holiday Home Tour – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

DOOR CANcer supporters have opened their hearts and homes to help people of Door County. Tour homes beautifully trimmed for the holidays including the Merry-Time Festival of Trees display. Tickets are $30 and are available at the museum.

Book Signing with Author Sue Jarosh
Join author Sue Jarosh for the book signing of her Door County book “Mouse in a Lighthouse” from 10am-2pm

Randy Peterson in the Reddin Bridge Room – 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 12:30 pm

Children’s singer and storyteller Randy Peterson will be playing guitar, banjo and mandolin while he sings songs for the audience. Be sure to stop in at the Reddin Bridge Room at 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30 to hear well-known Christmas holiday favorites and original audience-pleasing songs and activities. It’s sure to get you in the holiday spirit and let the children enjoy singing along.

 

December 12, Tuesday

Jingle, Jingle, Mix & Mingle – 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Join our festivities, a heavy hors d’oeuvres buffet, a live auction, a silent auction and our Merry-Time Festival of Trees raffle drawing. Tickets are $30 for members or $35 for non-members. Advanced reservations are required.
